Daniel Glen Federspiel, Architectural Designer, was born on July 15th 1980 in Saginaw, Michigan.
The beginning of my architectural experience began at Pinconning High School with mechanical drafting and art experiences. In 2001, Delta College is where I further developed my juvenile architectural skills before transferring to Lawrence Technological University. In fall 2001 I started classes at LTU and worked full time to put myself through college. Architectural Studio classes were my favorite classes where I was able to develop my ideas from sketches and CAD into 3D CAD and Bass Wood Models. In June of 2004, a trip to Paris, France is where I was able first to interact with classic architecture. This was one of the greatest experiences in my life and something that I would never forget. In the spring of 2005 I graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a Bachelors degree in the Science of Architecture.
In September 2004 I began to work for Nelson Design Build group where I assisted the owner in designs, project management, and office management. Starting as a designer on mainly residential renovations and additions, I worked with the president, Tim Nelson, to develop drawings and three dimensional drawings for clients and construction. Soon was assisting in project management on many of our developments. One of our largest renovation projects was a 5500 square foot condo in downtown Birmingham where I worked directly with the client and directed subcontractors. I also was responsible for creating a new logo, website and document development for Nelson Design Build Group.
In October 2006, I moved on to Anderson Development Partners (ADP), where I furthered my development into commercial architecture and design. At ADP I was hired to work on the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix and to work closely with the Operations Director Gary Baise. For two years I worked on producing construction documentation, provided cost-effective design methods, conducted field surveys and oversaw implementation of master construction plan.
While working at ADP, I also worked on producing high-end conceptual design presentations using AutoCAD, Photoshop and 3D Studio Max for Mercedes-Benz Corporate, Mini Cooper Corporate and Penske Automotive Group to name a few. I also developed company branding for MasterCraft Boat Company that included designs of layouts, display units, and signage. Penske Racing also asked us to propose a preliminary site and clubhouse designs for private race track at the race shop in Mooresville, NC.
In February 2009, I created DF Design Group LLC to provide services in Architecture, Website and Graphic design. We will concentrate on the small business in need of a clean consistent identity that needs proper positioning in the market place. The firm will also provide greater value for clients using advanced technology and green resources while staying on the competitive edge of digital-based design resources and superior customer service. I believe that good design can be achieved by attention to detail, relating to the customer’s needs and having a solid background where one is able to continue changing with the new and upcoming styles and technology. DF Design Group LLC is an Architectural, Website and Graphic Design firm.
In my personal live, I am renovating my 1950’s, 1100 square foot, bungalow in Birmingham into a New American Classicism style home. I am also a baseball umpire spring through fall in Oakland County and registered official with the Michigan High School Athletic Association since 2000. I am also working toward becoming a small aircraft pilot as a hobby. I plan to return to school in the near future to obtain my masters degree and become a licensed architect.
